The title “Bornova” is a reference to an area of the city of Izmir, Türkiye where my great friend, and one of my DJ mentors - Ayberk (aka I-Bec) – lived. When I visited in 2019, the name “Bornova” had a special ring to it for me, and I decided at the time, to make a mix bearing that name someday.
The Bornova mix was born in April 2024, while I was preparing to make a second journey to Türkiye. As I knew we would be taking some road trips while I was there, the mix was designed to be listened to while driving on a highway for long distances through spaces that traverse mountains and open plateaus. A mix for the beautiful country of Türkiye.
